At VOICES! Manitoba's Youth In Care Network we believe that it is important for all young people to know and protect their rights.
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO...
-Your own personal space, privacy and confidentiality -Voice your own opinions, concerns and thoughts -Play an active role in decisions regarding your future -Have your own spiritual beliefs and culture respected -Be respected, cared about and listened to as an individual -Be protected from abuse and neglect -Live in a stable, nurturing environment where all your basic needs are met and to be provided with the services and support you may need -You can state your opinion and decisions regarding your future -Disagree and appeal decision made on your behalf with the assistance of the Children's Advocate if necessary
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS
-Have a written copy of your case plan -Know who your social worker is, have their phone number and speak to them on a regular basis -If you are OVER the age of 12 you have the right to attend court and have your own lawyer represent your case
